SO I am 26, and I decided to start training for MMA, mainly because I love the sport, I love the gym I train in, and of course for self defense. I train MMA, Muay Thai, Judo and BJJ and eventually some Boxing since I want to better my striking. I train about 3 hours 4 times a week. But I have a problem, since I was a kid, whenever I encounter a situation where I had to fight I would paralyze because of how fearful I would get. I am not a thug guy, and I am not trying to be, I do not like fighting if its not for sports, and I am not the type of guy that wants to rub in people 's faces that I know Martial arts, I simply do not look for trouble. Even though i know a lot of good self defense techniques and train a lot, I think that if I get in a street fight, lets say a drunk guy in a Bar trying to hurt me, I am sure I would get nervous and afraid, I dont know If i would react property. I dont know if you guys would have an advice for me, I really hope I never get to use it in a street fight because thats not what I am looking for, but there might be a situation where I would have to defend myself.

anyways my question is:

has anybody been in this situation?

Do you have any good advice on how to get rid of this fear of getting beaten?

You have been training for 2 months on how to compete in your chosen sport. Learning sports is not learning self defense. There are different strategies, different intent and a different mindset. Although some of the same techniques are used, but many techniques for self defense are not taught in the sports as they are too dangerous and would cause too many injuries in the sport. You have to watered down a martial art and only use a portion of it to use in in a sport.

I will say this. Even with yo being trained for sport and not self defense you be able to handle yourself against most average attackers. The odds are in your favor because you do have some training. But 2 months is not much training. Your confidence and ability should grow as you continue to trained. Most people after only 2 months aren't ready to use what they know unless it is against someone just as green as they are.

Well Mr. Anonymous MMA has nothing to do with self defense. And doing multiple arts at same time can get confusing and contradict themselves. And since most MMA is watered down or hurried learning and you would have bad or sloppy technique.

Funny you would say you would not want to rub people's faces that you know martial arts. I laugh at that only 2 months. LOL You don't know Billy Jack at all abt martial arts. Not yet anyways.

A Martial arts King PIn society would like to see me in a funeral because I will not like a mob child woman because she said my past instructors in martial arts are homosexual so thats why I practice in peace and practice alone.
