Why do you think he wanted the ping pong balls?

Okay lol I'm really bored.This story is actually true and I read it from the internet.Here it is:

There was a boy named Mike once.He always got excellent grades and behaved fairly.When he was in the second grade,he got his report card.His teachers and parenst were so amazed by how smart he was so they decided to let his skip a few grades to grade 5.Well,when his report card came in,he had astounding grades as usual.So when his father asked him what reward he wanted for the grades,Mike said he wanted a ping pong ball.His father was confused because Mike didn't play ping pong.But the boy insisted he wanted a ping pong ball so the father bought him the ping pong ball.And every year he got good grades and always asked for a ping pong ball as a reward.His father bought him a ping pong ball.Well,he had saved up all the ping pong balls.Then,in the 12th grade....his parents asked him if he wanted to go on a trip to another country as a graduation gift.He said no and that he wanted another ping pong ball.So his confused parents bought him a ping pong ball.Then Mike moved out and went to college.He made sure to take his ping pong balls with him.His parents could never sleep at night because they always wondered what Mike wanted to do with ping pong balls.They had tried asking him but he would never say.So during Christmas break when Mike was driving home to his parents,he got into a terrible car accident.Mike's parents rushed to the hospital but the doctor said that Mike was still alive but would not make it much longer.So his parents ran into the hospital room to say there goodbyes.Mike was barely awake.Then after his mother said a tearful goodbye and rushed out of the room to give his father sometime to say goodbye,his father finally asked him why he wanted all those ping pong balls.Mike opened his mouth and said "Dad,the reason I wanted all thoses ping pong balls is beacause-".....then his eyes closed and he died before he could finish his sentence.To this day,Mike's parents still don't know why their son wanted all thoses ping pong balls.It will remain a mystery forever.


Sorry if I wasted your time reading this story,but I can't get it out of my mind lol.So why do you think he wanted all thoses ping pong balls??

I don't believe we're suppose to know what they were for as I believe the intent of the author was to keep us on the edge of our seats as it's human nature to be curious about something that's out of the ordinary.



There's really no answer to this.



It was interesting though...must be the human nature in me.

Maybe it was a constant reminder that everytime he did something well he would get a reward, or maybe he needed something tangible

to remind him of his fathers love. Thats interesting though. Made me think. I should ask my 12 yr old. He could probably come up with a dozen reasons.
