It depends on how tumbling is scored at your school. At our school, your running tumbling pass is worth up to 10 points, and your score will depend on what skills you do AND how well you do them. A cartwheel, a roundoff and a back walkover are worth about the same: 1-2 points. A roundoff back handspring is worth 3-4, and a roundoff to multiple back handsprings might get you 4-5. To get above 5 points, your pass needs to finish with a back tuck or layout, and a full is required to get about 7 or 8 points. To get a 9 or 10, you need a multiple-salto pass such as front tuck or whip back through to a full or double full.

We also get scored on our standing tumbling, up to 5 points. It must start with a toe touch. So a toe back handspring is worth 2-3; a toe back is worth 3-4. To get a 5 you need to do toe, 2 BHS to back, or toe BHS layout or full, or toe standing full.

The fundamentals you will have to understand while studying to tumble is a handstand and a again bend. Practice a handstand towards a wall with plenty of house round you. I'm definite you understand how to get into one on the grounds that you're taking classes. Keep training them and after awhile, attempt to maintain it for just a little even as longer than earlier than. A forged handstand is anything all tumblers will have to be in a position to do. To do a backbend, stand clear of a wall, however approximately two ft away, or in which you'll nonetheless achieve it from in the back of. Lean again and placed your fingers at the wall then stroll down the wall together with your fingers till you get to the ground in a backbend. Once you're in a position to do a backbend to your possess, your can be taught to do a again walkover. You cross right into a backbend, and kick over with one foot adopted through the opposite preserving your legs immediately. It will take a while earlier than you're in a position to do that to your possess however maintain training. Since you're taking classes, you're going to be taught quickly.

first of all you cant earn extra points when trying out for a cheerleading team, it may strengthen your chances but other skills in cheerleading matter also. but you're right roundoffs are good to know, maybe not so much back walkovers, but tumbling skills such as handstands, cartwheels, front handspring, back handspring. good luck^^

If you want to make your cheer team sore, you need to do all you can. Try learning a round-off back-handspring back-tuck. That's a combination of a round off, a backhandspring, and a back tuck. And if you're really wanting to shine, Perform a round-off backhandspring LAYOUT! It's really not that hard.
