I don't think so, but I want to see what other people say.

well i cheerleaded for 2 years & i believe its a sport but with more artificialness than other sports.

when a girl talked out of line on the squad she would have to run laps, do push-ups, or run the bleachers.

we got more injuries than our football team & sucked it up just like other players should.

we compete just as hard as any other team out there.

we ache & sweat after a day of practice & occasionally cry.

so yes i think its a sport but i hated all the superficialness of it & thats why i quit haha

Depends on your definition. Rome said that if he can do it while drinking a beer then it is not a sport. That eliminates poker but not cheerleading.

The physical demands put upon cheerleaders would classify it a sport. It has compition that is quite fierce and they practice quite a bit. I would call it a sport based on that critera.

Is there any point to it? I sure do like watching them when nothing is happening during the game.

I've been cheerleading for just a year. Now I gotta say that my 6 years of wrestling doesn't even hold a candle to cheerleading! This is one of the hardest sports i have ever participated in. Whether its doing stunts, actually doing a "cheer", or dancing. Before last year i've never felt so....competitive. It is sooo great to "be aggressive"!!!

So yes. I do believe cheerleading is a sport.

Well I don't know if you can really call it a sport because while there are competitions you don't really play games. However, the stuff they do is absolutely amazing and I will give them all the credit in the world for that.
