Stamina is developed by doing at least 20 to 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise 3 to 5 days per week.

The longer you train the more development.

Running is the simpliest, but biking, and swimming can also work.

Depending upon your age in particular and physical, biological and psychological features in general, that is special to your body, you may be able to develope or increase your Stamina in a specific and optimum manner.

If you happen to be in growing stage, i.e age preferably below 18, a lot of physical exercises, cycling, swimming and trekking in a clean atmosphere free from pollution, can enhance your breathing / inhaling capacity and your heart valves are rejuvenated with envigorating circulation of blood in those vital cells, your stamina get automically increased upto a level your body is fit to absorb or retain.

After this age, you may gainfully engage in Yogic excercises and a little bit of cycling, swimming, trekking to reach the optimum of your requirements.

However, your food-habits should not be such as to damage your vital functions. Your above stated exercise etc should be duly complimented by rich intakes of calories from fresh fruits, milk etc. It should be balanced and taken only when there is a sense of intense hunger, by which the required larva is discharged and mingles with the nutrients and properly and quickly transforms into strength and stamina.

Mitochondria Density.

Mitochondria are where fats and carbohydrates are converted to energy in the body's cells.

To build mitochondria density do plenty of Long Slow Distance work. For a runner that would be runs in excess of 90 minutes at 60 - 70% of VO2 max.

WARNING: Don't confuse stamina with fast times. If all you do is LSD training then all you'll be able to do is run for long distances at a slow pace. To increase your speed, you'll have to include some interval and other speed work to your training schedule.

sports like swimming, cycling and track can help build strong stamina but i still think regular exercise (like a 20 minute jog every MWF) can really build stamina.
