oh god yes. you may think not, but u never know when a buddy of his will give him a good ball tap. even for sport like track, its keeps the goods from flopping around.

Ive bought my 14 year old boy a jock strap and cup. I took him in my office and had him take his pants off so I could see how his bits were being supported in his choice of underwear. His briefs were worn and saggy. I had him jump up and down a couple times and his testicles were flailing around all over. It was a fight to get him to take his underwear off but we found one of the 3 jocks I bought for him was a perfect fit. He tucked his testicles up to the side and his penis pointing straight up. Then we put the cup in the pocket and the armor is done. Undies back on, and all is well. My son at 14 is very well developed and used a mans size jock and cup. Interesting, about 2 weeks later he took a crotch hit by a baseball and other than being suprised was not injured. Had the cup not been there, it would have been devastating and likely a rupture. He ran to me and hugged me crying and said he was sorry he fought me on this issue and played to be shy and modest in front of his Dad and thanked me for protecting him. I think every Dad should have some male bonding time with his boys and teach them about their genitals and how to protect them with good quality equipment and then make sure they know how to wear it by showing them and making sure they do it properly. Boys need Fathers and Men to teach them about being Men, there is no shame or modesty in this vital part of male growth and development

Ask your coach. I'm just a girl, but, I would think that you would want to protect yourself down there. Especially if you're playing a contact sport like football or soccer.
