It's because you haven't been stretching. You really need to stretch every single day to keep being able to do the splits. Heck, i haven't stretched for about 4 days and i'm already losing the ability!
As you grow, your muscles get tighter, which is why little kids are a lot more flexible than adults.
But you will find it a lot easier to re-learn how to do it than someone who has never been able to do it before. If you stretch the right muscles every day for a few minutes you should be able to do it again within about a week.
Good Luck!

YA! same with me!
It's because since then, we haven't stretched out the muscles, and we grow, so our muscles get tigther and we aren't able to do the splits anymore.
But, on the bright side, we can still be able to do the splits again easier than if we never knew how to do the splits before! :D
