How can you wear a quiver and a cloak at the same time?

You can't wear the cloak under the quiver without it looking weird, you can't wear it over without covering the quiver, and cutting slits in the cloak for the quiver would mean that it would be difficult to take on and off. Or am I missing something?

It appears that both methods you mention, under with a slit or over, are employed by Hollywood and cos-players. I think the way I've seen it in most movies is over the cloak. I would tend to believe this has more historical accuracy also because an archer might sometimes fight with his quiver on, and sometimes with it off, perhaps with is placed in front of him with easy access to the arrows. I also believe most wardrobe and costume designers study the available historical references and may tend to be more historically acurate than fantasy artists or cosplayers. Although some of the photos I've seen of Legolas from Lord of the Rings appears that he has small slits in his cloak where his quiver is anchored to his body, this is probably for reasons of providing stability during action scenes, and overall it is intended to look like the quiver is freely slung over the shoulder. It appears that the "over" method looks the most natural and would be the most functional. If you think logically or practically about it, wearing the quiver over the cloak would allow the most functionality and flexibility in using and removing it without the disturbing other clothing or armor.



I don't think it looks that weird actually.
